Every possibility his father is James Arthy of Boxford.

2  ii   Thomas ARTHY  b ? m  Mary Bloss 19/4/1720.

iii  Mary ARTHY b 24/5/1711  Ramsey.  two illegitimate daughters Mary & Martha. Mary mar John Hesgay 1745 which shows that this is the marriage of Mary daughter of Edward & Susan Arthy ( a widow in 1747). The poor rate records show a lot of payments for the support of the children Mary & Matha 1741-1748 and a number of these payments are to widow Arthy for the support of the children. So maybe the children stayed with their grandmother Susan Arthy rather than remaining with their mother.

You will see the site of the old water mill on the map. In the early days it was tidal and made unworkable when the sluices and pumps were put in at Parkeston Quay, keeping the salt water out of Ramsey. Unexplained  Ramsey burials  :  Elizabeth 24/10/1755.  Elizabeth 18/3/1757  No further information available.

We have an Unknown Arthy family of Halstead which may well have originated from the Ramsey family.

Edward Arthy senior may have also had a son John.  Not Proven
